“In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy. ”
Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a biochemist and Nobel Prize winner
In every culture and healing practice before our way of living, there has always been some form of energy therapy. This is no different for foot work. Foot work has been in many ancient and current cultures. Foot Zone Therapy is a holistic wellness modality based on the traditional understanding that the feet reflect the body through mapped reflex points and zones connected to different systems and areas of the body. Practitioners use this map with intentional touch to stimulation acupressure points. Zone Therapy aims to support relaxation, balance, circulation, stress reduction, and communication within the body systems. It is a whole-body reboot. Brad Nowell, at We do Feet taught, your body is the computer and your feet are keyboards.
Modern Foot Zoning developed from early zone therapy and reflexology practices and has continued evolving through generations of practitioners who combined hands-on techniques, body awareness, observation, and holistic wellness principles. Today, Foot Zoning is practiced by many individuals seeking a more natural, connected, and proactive approach to wellness.
At The Healer’s Art Institute, Foot Zoning is taught as both a practical skill and a healing art — blending structured education, hands-on application, body system awareness, and intuitive development in a grounded and approachable way.
These programs are designed for people who feel called to better understand the body, support others, and create a more connected approach to wellness and healing.
Many of our students are:
Parents wanting better tools to support their families naturally
Individuals searching for more purpose-driven and meaningful work
Wellness practitioners seeking hands-on skills to add to their existing practice
Individuals on their own healing journey who want deeper understanding and empowerment
People longing for stronger community, connection, and self-reliance in wellness (like-minds if you will!)
Sisters who have always felt drawn toward the healing arts but never knew where to begin
Whether your goal is personal growth, family wellness, or building a professional practice, our programs are designed to meet students where they are and help them grow with confidence, skills, and support.

Yes. Our programs include practical hands-on learning, mentorship, observation, and practicum experience, in addition to an at your own pace learning platform.
Our program is the first foot zone school on the east coast. We follows the 200 hour requirements in technique, hands-on practicum experience, body system education, mentorship, intuitive development, and practical application in a grounded, approachable learning environment that is in alignment with The National Foot Zone Association and American Reflexology Certification Board. We focus not only on techniques, but also on helping students build confidence, awareness, and real-world skills.
Training timelines vary depending on the program and student pace. Each Foot Zone Cohort takes 20 weeks. Most students finish the program in 9-18 months.
The goal of our program is to help students gain both the skills and the confidence to be successful.
Yes.That's my favorite part!! Many students integrate Foot Zoning into existing wellness practices such as massage, coaching, energy work, natural wellness education, yoga, reiki or holistic lifestyle support.
Both. While most of the assignments, lectures, and lessons are prerecorded and biweekly webinars there are 2 required in-person assignments, (1) a weekend intensive training and (2) the hands-on exam.
